In My Dreams - a work in progress.

~The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul. ~Wyland

For many lucky people in Australia the summer holidays inevitably mean relaxing trips to the beach. On warm sunny days we get to take in the fresh sea breezes and the smell of the ocean whilst revelling in the feel of warm, oozy sand between our toes.

The ocean with its beauty and fascinating little details has been an inspiration to many a poet or artist since time began.  Lately I have also been inspired to try to capture the elusive series of restless shapes and colours of the waves as they roll in endlessly to shore.

This is what is on my easel at the moment.

Imagine opening your patio doors in the morning and stepping straight out onto a beautiful beach like this one:

There is still a lot of work to do but I haven't been able to do much painting today because I'm waiting for the layers of paint to dry first. And we all know there is nothing more exciting than watching paint dry:)

In the meanwhile I am planning my next steps which will include finishing the grass, adding some lines to indicate the deck planks, finishing the door frames, and adding some gauzy curtains to the inside of the doors.

I hope you will check in again soon to see the progress as I go along. Or, while you wait, you can also click on the tabs to browse through the galleries of my previous artwork.
